The 2000 Winston-Salem State Rams won their second straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) football championship. The team posted a 9-3 overall record and a perfect 4-0 record at home. The Rams won the championship with a 31-28 win over the Virginia Union Universituy Panthers. The Rams posted a 6-1 CIAA record and were a perfect 3-0 at home in conference games. The team included C.E. “Big House” Gaines Athletic Hall of Fame member Tory Woodbury. The team averaged 353.6 yards per game and 28.7 points per game en route to the Rams’ eighth CIAA football title.
