BRADENTON, FL – The Winston-Salem State Rams track & field team capped the 2017 season in remarkable fashion with a pair of top five finishes at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. The Rams’ 4x100m relay team placed fifth in their event while senior sprinter Ty-Leah Hampton placed third in the women’s 100m dash, Saturday afternoon.
BRADENTON, FL – Winston-Salem State University senior sprinter Ty-Leah Hampton placed 15th in the preliminary round of the women’s 200m dash at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet, Friday afternoon. She ran a 24.03 to place 15th in the event. With the top eight finishers advancing to the event finals, Hampton will not compete in the event finals.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -The Department of Athletics at Winston Salem State University has been awarded a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) CHOICES grant to educate students about the risks involved with the misuse of alcohol. The grant will award $30,000 over a three-year period, funded by the NCAA with support from Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc. The grant, designed to integrate athletics’ departments into campus-wide efforts to reduce alcohol abuse, is a collaboration between the Department of Athletics, Student Affairs and two academic departments – the Department of Health, Physical Education and Sport Studies (HPSS) and Human Services Studies (HSS).
