SUFFOLK, VA – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (30-12, 30-12 CIAA) had a tough day on the second day of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) North/South Round-Up, Saturday. After opening the day with a pair of impressive wins, the Lady Rams closed out the day with one win in the final four matches of the day.
The Lady Rams opened the day on a high note with a pair of wins. The team got things going early, defeating the top team in the CIAA Northern Division, the Virginia State Lady Trojans, by a score of 791-738. The team kept its momentum going in the second match with a 751-652 win over Lincoln (Pa.). The team ran into some hot competition in the next match as they took an 843-728 loss against Elizabeth City State. The Lady Rams managed to bounce back with a 746-562 win over Chowan. The Lady Rams ran into some more top competition as the team took an 814-792 loss to Bowie State and closed out the day with a 705-664 loss to host Virginia Union.
WSSU freshman Tia Edgerton led the way for the Lady Rams with a 964 pin total for the day. She also had the highest single match total with a 190 against Bowie State.
