MURFREESBORO, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (0-12, 0-4 CIAA) could find no answers in a tough three-set loss to the Chowan Hawks (7-3, 5-0 CIAA), Sunday morning at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up. The Lady Rams gave a solid overall effort in the match, but could not seem to get out of their own way in the loss, 25-22, 25-19, and 25-16.
The Lady Rams were able to bring some strong offense in the match with 27 total kills, just five fewer than their opponents. However, the team struggled with 20 hitting errors. The team was also handcuffed by nine receiving errors in the match as well. WSSU junior outside hitter Katelyn Sigala led the attack with 10 kills in the match. Senior middle blocker De Ann Smith added five kills and six blocks (two solo) in the match.
