Fernandez Griffin is inducted into the WSSU C.E. “Big House” Gaines Athletic Hall of Fame for meritorious service to the athletic program at Winston-Salem State University. Griffin began his career at WSSU as an athletic trainer in 1973 and continued to expand his duties to include serving as the equipment manager and administrative assistant to all of WSSU’s head coaches.  He was instrumental in creating a first class athletic training room environment and established a standard of excellence that was emulated throughout the CIAA.  Griffin graduated from WSSU in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education.
