Laurence Edward Harrison is honored in the meritorious service category. He served as an official for high school and college basketball games for more than 25 years. He has been selected to both the MEAC and CIAA Officials Halls of Fame. He was recognized in 1977 for his outstanding support of Winston-Salem State University by the National Alumni Association. He was a member of the men’s basketball team from 1954 to 1958. He led the team in scoring and was second in rebounding during his playing days. He was also a member of the men’s track and field team and finished second in the high jump at the 1955 Penn Relays at a height of 6’7 ¾”. He retired as a teacher in the Baltimore City Public School System with over 30 years of service. He currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
