Willis Johnson is inducted into the WSSU C.E. “Big House” Gaines Athletic Hall of Fame for his athletic excellence on the basketball court. The 6-7 center was a member of the Rams’ basketball team for four seasons (1949-53). Johnson served as captain of the Rams in 1953, the same season that he helped to lead the Rams to their first CIAA Championship. One of Clarence “Big House” Gaines’ first student-athletes from the city of New York, Johnson helped the Rams recruit many talented student-athletes from the New York metropolitan area.
