WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Winston-Salem State University Director of Athletics Etienne Thomas announces the promotion of James DuBose, Jr. to the position of Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Development and Administration. After six years of dedication and hard work in service of Rams athletics, DuBose, Jr. will continue to play a key role in the future of WSSU athletics.
"I am excited to announce the promotion of James DuBose to Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Development and Athletic Administration and to officially recognize him as the Senior member of our Athletics Leadership team," said Winston-Salem State University Director of Athletics Etienne Thomas. "James is a terrific combination of corporate America meets college athletics with a solid foundation rooted in his Church, community, and civic engagements. He has a unique way of "touching" people and leaving a lasting impact on anyone he encounters and brings all these characteristics to our Department in his service of our student-athletes, coaches, staff, our HORN$ members, donors, alumni, and campus community. James' increased responsibilities include Athletics human resource management, coordination of athletics scholarships and as sports supervisor for our Cheerleading program. He will continue in his current role with primary responsibility for Athletics Development including the HORN$, oversight of sports medicine, strength and conditioning and media relations."
The promotion marks another step in a terrific career of service for DuBose, Jr., who has been a member of the Winston-Salem State University athletics staff has been for the past six years. During his time at WSSU, DuBose, Jr. has been a vital asset in nearly every aspect of Rams athletics. After joining the staff in the fall of 2014, he has served in several capacities for the Rams. In addition to his numerous administrative duties, he currently leads the HORN$ Club and he spearheaded and continues to lead the GROW Campaign. During his career at WSSU, DuBose has earned several honors, including earning the 2017 Claudette Weston Spirit Award as well as the 2017 Chancellor's Award for Stewardship. He also led the successful Team 250 Campaign as well. In addition to his duties with the Rams, DuBose, Jr. is also a proud graduate of the 2018 Leadership Winston-Salem Class. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Winston-Salem Police Foundation and he is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Social Success.
