C.E. “Big House” Gaines WSSU Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Postponed Until 2022

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – In a joint decision between the Winston-Salem State University Department of Athletics and the Clarence E. "Big House" Gaines WSSU Hall of Fame Committee, the next induction into the Clarence E. "Big House" Gaines WSSU Hall of Fame has been moved to the fall of 2022.

Typically, induction into the Clarence E. "Big House" Gaines WSSU Hall of Fame occurs every other year.  However, there will be no class of inductees in 2021.

The Clarence E. "Big House" Gaines WSSU Athletics Hall of Fame Committee along with the Winston-Salem State University Department of Athletics made this joint statement regarding the postponement.

"The health and safety of our current and future Hall of Famers, alumni, coaches, staff, student-athletes and fans remains our top priority. Although we will compete in a complete football schedule in the fall of 2021, postponing this year's induction will allow us to completely return to full operations as a campus and State. Additionally, this will allow time for the Hall of Fame Committee to formally release a call for nominations, select the class, and make notification of selection and for all to make travel plans to be in attendance. We look forward to seeing you all this fall as we come back together and are actively working with the Hall of Fame Committee to prepare for the Celebration in 2022."

The nomination and selection process will return to full regular function in preparation of a class announcement in the fall of 2022. Nomination forms for the Clarence E. "Big House" Gaines WSSU Athletics Hall of Fame can be found on www.WSSURams.com.
