Rams Take a 10-4 Loss to Bloomsburg

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (10-3) took a hard-fought loss to the Bloomsburg Huskies (4-1), Saturday afternoon. After falling behind by five runs, the Rams staged a late rally, but the team could not keep it going in the hard-fought loss.

As a team, the Rams struggled to hit the ball, but they kicked things into gear late. WSSU totaled nine hits in the game. Freshman second base Kendall Tucker led the way for the Rams with a two-for-four batting performance with a double and a run scored. Freshman third base Nick Ward added a two-for-five batting effort with two RBI.

The Rams fell behind early as they allowed on run in each of the first and second innings as well as two third inning runs and a fourth inning run to fall behind, 5-0. The team answered in the seventh inning when they put four runs on the scoreboard. Junior catcher Shannon Glover got things started when he reached base on a fielding error by the Huskies that allowed a pair of WSSU runs to score. Ward followed the effort with a two-RBI single as well. However, the Rams' rally didn't last long as they allowed two unanswered runs in the eighth inning and three unanswered ninth inning runs to take the loss.

WSSU sophomore Jalen Scott (2-1) took the pitching loss. He started the game and went six innings for the Rams. He allowed five runs (five earned) with four strikeouts.

The Rams and Huskies would go on to complete the doubleheader later in the day. With the loss, the Rams fall to 10-3 overall. For more information on Rams baseball, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to
