Parks, Ritsche Earn Post-Season Honors from Black College Nines

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The honors just keep coming in for the Winston-Salem State University Rams baseball program. WSSU head baseball coach Kevin Ritsche was honored with the Black College Nines Dedication Award while junior pitcher Cole Parks was a first team selection on Black College Nines' Elite Team (Small School Division).

The selections were made based on season long statistical information including research provided by coaching staffs and sports information directors. The winners are voted upon by the Black College Nines and members of the national media.

Ritsche was honored with the Dedication Award. He earned the honor for the effort that he put into building the Rams into one of the top baseball programs in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region. This season, the Rams finished with a 35-16 record and the team's ninth straight season with a winning record. The Rams also took home the Independent Baseball Championship. During the season, Ritsche also earned his 300th career victory.

Also earning a post-season honor was junior pitcher Cole Parks. He had another terrific season for the Rams with a 10-2 overall record and 102 strikeouts in 86.2 innings. He also did a lot of damage at the plate with .385 batting average that included four doubles, two triples, and six home runs with 34 RBI and 25 runs scored.
