LEXINGTON, NC - The professional career continues former Winston-Salem State University baseball player E.P. Reese. A star with the Rams, Reese has signed a free agent minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox, Tuesday.
With the signing, Reese continues a professional baseball career that was cut short when Major League Baseball cancelled the 2020 minor league season. With the cancellation of the 2020 season, Reese was among numerous players in the minor league season who were released from their contracts. With Tuesday's signing, Reese's career begins anew.
Reese was selected by the Houston Astros in the 25th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. He was the 767th overall pick in the 40-round draft. His selection came after a successful season with the Rams baseball team. He finished the season with a .409 batting average after 73 hits in 179 at-bats. He also added 54 runs scored and 35 RBI for the Rams. He also added 26 stolen bases and he earned a spot on the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawling All-Region Team.
After signing the contract, Reese will now await designation from the Chicago White Sox organization. For more information on Rams baseball, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
