Parks, Reese Named to 2019 NCCSIA College Division All-State Team

MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Winston-Salem State duo of redshirt-sophomore centerfielder E.P. Reese and junior pitcher Cole Parks were both honored by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) when they were named to the 2019 NCCSIA All-State Team, Monday afternoon. The players earned the honor after a terrific season for the Rams.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – For the second season in a row a member of the Winston-Salem State Rams baseball team has been selected in the Major League Baseball (MLB) draft as redshirt-sophomore outfielder E.P. Reese was selected in the 25th round of the 2019 draft. He was selected by the Houston Astros with the 766th pick of the draft.

GREENSBORO, NC – Winston-Salem State University redshirt-sophomore centerfielder E.P. Reese was recognized for a terrific 2019 season when he was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings 2019 NCAA Division II All-Region Team, Wednesday. Reese earned second team all-region honors and was selected from all of the players in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region.

WSSU head baseball coach Kevin Ritsche was honored with the Black College Nines Dedication Award while junior pitcher Cole Parks was a first team selection on Black College Nines’ Elite Team (Small School Division).

DALLAS, TX – After a terrific season, Winston-Salem State junior Cole Parks was honored when he was selected for the 2019 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Atlantic All-Region team, Wednesday. Parks earned the honor after a stellar season on the mound, in the field, and at the plate for the Rams.

Rams Break Out for a 20-6 Win Over Claflin

ASHEBORO, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (30-15) had a tremendous performance at the plate when the team took a 20-6 win over the Claflin Panthers (23-14), Sunday afternoon. Playing at McCrary Park in nearby Asheboro, N.C., the Rams had one of their best scoring performances of the season en route to the win.

Rams Close Regular Season with a 13-8 Win Over Claflin

ASHEBORO, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (31-15) staged a late rally to come away with a 13-8 win over the Claflin Panthers (23-15), Sunday afternoon. After allowing a hot start to the Panthers, the Rams heated up late to pull away for the win. The Rams used the long ball to claim the win as the team got back-to-back home runs late to pull away with the win.

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (27-13) claimed a 4-3 road win over the Emmanuel (Ga.) Lions (23-24), Saturday afternoon. The Rams showed some tremendous heart to claim the win after taking a tie late into the game.

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (27-13) staged a great comeback, but the team fell short in a 10-7 road loss to the Emmanuel College Lions, Friday afternoon. After falling behind, 8-4, the Rams scored three ninth-inning runs, but fell short in the tough loss.

ATHENS, WVA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (27-12) got three big late runs to claim a 13-10 road win over the Concord Mountain Lions (23-10), Tuesday. After playing to a 10-10 tie late in the game, the Rams scored three eighth inning runs to claim big win.

MARS HILL, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (26-12) played some clutch defense late to claim a 6-5 road win over the Mars Hill Lions (16-24), Saturday afternoon. After taking an early lead, the Rams held off a furious comeback effort from the Lions to remain undefeated on the road.

MOCKSVILLE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (21-11) had some impressive batting performances, but it was not enough as the team took a 7-4 loss to the Concord Mountain Lions (12-5), Tuesday evening. In a game that featured four home runs between the two teams, the Rams could not quite get the runs that they needed across the plate in the hard-fought loss.
