Colon Named to Preseason All-CIAA Team; Rams Picked to Finish Eighth, Fourth in CIAA South

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams just received a chip on their shoulders for the upcoming season as the team was picked to finish eighth overall and fourth in their division in the 2019 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Predicted Order of Finish, Tuesday morning. The Rams will look to senior Robert Colon, the sole member of the team to earn Preseason All-CIAA honors to lead the team to their climb this season.

The selection came after a 12-15 season with the team and a 7-11 record in CIAA play last season. The effort left the Rams tied for fourth place in the CIAA South last season. The team will have a new look for the 2019-20 season with only six players back from last season's team and nine newcomers. The team will look to prove the predictors wrong when they take the court.

The Rams will have some great talent leading the way in the 2019-20 season. Senior guard Robert Colon was named to the 2019-20 CIAA Preseason All-Conference team. He finished the season as the team's second leading scorer, averaging 15.5 points per game. He ranked eighth in the CIAA in scoring and he was seventh in the conference with 62 three-pointers made.

The Winston-Salem State Rams will open the 2019-20 season at home on November 12th when the team hosts the UNC Pembroke Braves. The team will get an earlier test, however, as they head to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to take on the UNC Tar Heels on November 1st.
