The Winston-Salem State Rams will welcome a new addition to the staff this fall with Lawrence Kershaw taking over duties as the team’s offensive line coach. He comes to Winston-Salem State after three seasons as the head coach of the Fayetteville State Broncos. He will bring a wealth of knowledge and a passion for the game to the Rams’ coaching staff and will look to help guide the team to new heights.

Kershaw joins the Rams coaching staff after spending three seasons as the head coach of the Fayetteville State Broncos. During his tenure as head coach of the Broncos, he led the team to a 15-15 overall record along with a 13-6 record in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. During his tenure as head football coach of the Broncos, Kershaw helped to produce a pair of All-Americans and over 10 All-CIAA selections. One of which included Marcus Reed who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Prior to taking the reins at Fayetteville State, Kershaw spent five years as the offensive coordinator/offensive line coach at Florida A&M. During his time there, the Rattlers earned a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Championship as well as leading the MEAC in passing efficiency (141.9), touchdown passes (18) and completion percentage (.704) in 2012. In 2007, Kershaw served as the offensive line coach at Hampton University. He also served as the offensive line coach and the coordinator of the strength & conditioning program at Truman State University. He is definitely not a stranger to the CIAA as he spent time as the assistant head coach at Virginia Union University and the offensive coordinator at Virginia State University where he helped the team to win a pair of CIAA championships and a runner-up finish. He also spent three years as the offensive line coach with the Trojans. As a player, Kershaw completed his playing career at Virginia State.

Kershaw holds a Masters of Education degree from Virginia State (1997).
