ROCK HILL, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams women's and men's cross country teams had some great performances at the 36th Annual Adidas/Winthrop Invitational Cross Country Meet. Both teams posted some impressive times and great team finishes at the meet.
The Rams women's team had a great effort at the meet where they placed sixth. As a team, the Rams totaled 151 points. Junior Victoria Porter placed 25th among scoring runners (29th overall) in the women's 5K run. She ran a 22:55.2 in the event. Fellow junior Tamia McLean placed a nearby 26th among scoring runners (30th overall) with a 22:56.0. Junior Keyona Johnson added a 31st place finish among scoring runners (37th overall) with a 23:48.5.
The Rams women's team also had a great performance as well. The team placed eighth among the men's teams to lead all Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) teams participating in the meet. The team totaled 260 points. WSSU freshman Jordan Savoy continued his terrific start to his collegiate career with another strong effort. He placed 47th among scoring runners (60th overall) with a 32:14.6 in the men's 8K run. Junior Ashley Simon placed 51st among scoring runners (66th overall) with a 33:44.6.
