LOUISVILLE, KY – Winston-Salem State University junior second base Daijah Chambers earned her second regional honor of the season when she was selected for the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) DII All-Region Team, Thursday afternoon. She was a second team selection to the Atlantic All-Region team.
Although, it was her strong performance at the plate that highlighted her resume and helped to bring home the honor for Chambers, it should not overshadow some great defensive play by the Richmond, Va, native. She currently holds a .463 batting average with 42 runs scored and 44 RBI. She also added nine home runs with eight doubles and five triples. Defensively, Chambers was equally impressive defensively as she finished the season with 71 putouts and 48 assists with just one error. She currently holds a .992 fielding percentage.
Her selection to the NFCA All-Region team is one of several for Chambers this season. She was named to the D2CCA All-Region team and the All-CIAA team as well. The honors come in addition to the team claiming the 2019 CIAA Softball Championship.
Currently, Chambers and the Rams are competing in the 2019 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament. For more information on Rams softball, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
