The Winston-Salem State University football team has an exciting season coming to the city of Winston-Salem with five home games and the inauguration of the Winston-Salem Football Classic. The three-day community-centered event is one of the strongest community partnerships in WSSU athletic history with the Rams joining strengths with the City of Winston-Salem and Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System.

Rams Battle in Hard-Fought 5-0 Loss to Top-Seeded Chowan in CIAA Semifinals

RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (10-8) ended their successful 2016 season with a hard-fought 5-0 loss to the Chowan Lady Hawks (24-5) in the semifinal round of the 2016 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament, Friday morning. The Rams gave a great effort, but the team did not have enough to compete with the top-seeded Lady Hawks.

RALEIGH, NC – The fourth-seeded Winston-Salem State Rams (10-7) had an impressive showing when the team took a 5-0 win over the fifth-seeded Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (7-16) on the opening day of the 2016 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament. The Rams had to give a great effort to pull out the win as the Golden Bulls would not go down without a fight.

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams was rewarded for a strong performance during the season when the duo of senior Devan Corpening and sophomore Alexus Morgan were both named to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) All-Conference team, Thursday afternoon. After compiling their best regular season since 2013, the honors came in for the Rams.

RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (9-7, 8-5 CIAA) will begin their quest for their first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) title since 2011 when the team takes part in the 2016 CIAA Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament. The Rams will kick things off, Thursday when the team faces the fifth-seeded Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls, the third place team from the CIAA Southern Division.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (9-7) team put the finishing touches on a scorching hot finish to the regular season when the team took an impressive 8-1 win over the local rival Salem College Spirits (5-8), Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Rams finish the regular season on a hot streak with six wins in their last seven matches.

SALISBURY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (8-7, 8-5 CIAA) completed their Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) schedule in style when the team rolled to an 8-1 road win over the Livingstone (3-10, 3-8 CIAA), Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Rams finish the season with a 6-2 record in the CIAA Southern Division and finish the season in second place.

Rams Take 7-2 Loss to Shaw Lady Bears

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Rams (6-7, 6-5 CIAA) saw their three-match streak come to an end, Sunday afternoon when the team took a 7-2 loss to the Shaw Lady Bears (13-2, 11-1 CIAA). The loss gave the Rams just their second Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division loss of the season and snapped a three-match winning streak for the team.

Rams Take 9-0 Win Over Fayetteville State for Third Straight Victory

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (6-6, 6-4 CIAA) took a key 9-0 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division win over the Fayetteville State Broncos (1-7, 1-7 CIAA), Monday afternoon. With the win, the Rams complete a season sweep of the Broncos and more importantly, the team improves to 4-1 in CIAA Southern Division play.

RICHMOND, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (5-6, 5-4 CIAA) got a key Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) victory, Sunday when the team took a 6-0 win over the Virginia Union Lady Panthers. The win marked the second of back-to-back shutout wins for the Rams and gave the team a 2-1 record for the weekend round up.

RICHMOND, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (3-6, 3-4 CIAA) couldn’t overcome some early struggles when the team took a 5-4 loss to the Bowie State Lady Bulldogs (3-2, 3-2 CIAA), Friday at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round Up. The loss ended a two-match winning streak for the Rams and kept the team winless against the CIAA Northern Division.
