Lady Rams Suffer 7-0 Loss to Morgan State

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (1-16) suffered their seventh straight loss, Friday afternoon when the team took a 7-0 loss to the Morgan State Lady Bears at the Winston-Salem State Tennis Center. After taking some close losses in doubles play, the team struggled mightily in doubles action.

 

The Lady Rams lost the doubles point with three tough losses to the Lady Bears. WSSU took the losses, 3-8, 5-8, and 6-8. WSSU sophomore Terese Lavan and freshman Jade Heggins had the best score of the doubles set, scoring six points in their loss.

 

Singles play was also tough on the Lady Rams who were swept in singles play. WSSU freshman Gabrielle Benjamin was the only Lady Ram to score in both sets of her singles match, falling by scores of 3-6 and 3-6. Fellow freshman Shannon Loughman was also tough, falling by scores of 5-7 and 0-6.

 

The Lady Rams will return to action next Thursday afternoon whtn the team will host the Hampton Lady Pirates in a 1:00 p.m. match.
