Georgia Southern Sweeps Lady Rams Tennis 7-0 At WSSU Tennis Complex

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Georgia Southern Eagles handed the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams a 7-0 defeat on Sunday morning at the WSSU Tennis Complex. With the loss, WSSU drops to 1-19 on the season, while Georgia Southern remains undefeated against MEAC opponents in 2008.


The Eagles easily came away with the doubles point after sweeping all three matches and followed with a sweep of the singles competition for the shutout victory.


At No. 1, Kristi Kegerreis defeated Shannon Loughnan 6-0, 6-1, while Molly Maddox handed Johanna Nunez a 6-0, 6-2 defeat at No. 3. Terese Lavan and Gabrielle Benjamin were both defeated by scores of 6-0, 6-1 at spots four and five, respectively.


The Eagles' Ali Beavers shutout Laken Joyce in straight 6-0 sets at spot two and Kelli Helms did the same at spot six beating WSSU's Jade Higgins.


Winston-Salem State returns to action on Tuesday, April 8 when it makes the short trip to Greensboro, N.C. to face the Spartans of UNC-Greensboro for a 3:30 p.m. match.
