Hampton, 4x100m Relay Earn USTFCCCA NCAA Division II All-American Honors

NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Winston-Salem State Rams track & field team capped a great 2017 season in style when a quartet of Rams was named to the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II All-American Team. The student-athletes earned the honors after some great performances at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet, this weekend.

Student-Athletes earn first team honors by virtue of finishing among the top-8 in their events, including as a member of a relay team. Second team honors were bestowed upon those finishing 9th through 12th in individual events or as a member of a relay team.

In total, the Rams had one individual and one relay team to earn All-American honors. WSSU senior sprinter Ty-Leah Hampton led the way, placing third in the women's 100m dash with an 11.66 in the event. The Rams' 4x100m relay team, consisting of Hampton, freshman Ma'Kyia Gayden, freshman Kayla Foy, and freshman Cierra Thompson placed fifth in the women's 4x100m relay with a 45.50 in the event.
