CLEMSON, SC – The Winston-Salem State University track & field team had some great performances against some of the best competition in the Bob Pollock Invitational Track & Field Meet this weekend. The Rams saw some great sprint efforts along with some strong performances in field events as well during the two-day meet.
Some of the Rams' best performances came on the track, especially in the sprint events. Senior sprinter Cierra Thompson ran a 7.70 in the women's 60m dash preliminaries. Sophomore Amique Willis ran an 8.98 in the women's 60m hurdles preliminaries as well. The Rams' 4x400m relay team was also impressive with a 3:52.53 to place eighth in the event.
In the field events, the Rams had some of the best efforts in the jump events. Freshman Journe Dundy led the way for the Rams with a 16'2.25" (4.93m) jump to place 16th. Fellow freshman Erykah Baldwin placed 19th with a 15'5.5" (4.71m) jump. In the women's shot put, junior Ashley Taylor placed 17th with a 35'0.25" (10.67m) throw.
