LINCOLN, PA. – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (1-4) opened Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play with a bang when the team took a three-set win over the Lincoln (Pa.) Lions at the first CIAA Round-Up of the season. The Lady Rams rolled to the win by scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-9.
The Lady Rams took the win behind a great defensive performance as the team held the Lions to just 15 kills and forced 25 errors in the match. WSSU sophomore right side hitter Olivia Owens led the way for the team with seven kills and one error in the match. Freshman middle blocker Jocelyn Mills added four total blocks (one solo) in the match. The Lady Rams defense was great in the match with senior outside hitter Katelin Wensley leading the way with 13 digs while senior libero Katelyn Sigala added 11 digs and fellow senior Avoni Seymour added 10 digs.
